New Arrivals

Here it is, the first newsletter from Table Wines.

After a busy summer in Wine World, including a bumper vintage for English winemakers, we are now adding new bottles to the website every week and will have some fun (and great value) cases up soon. I've selected a few highlights from the new arrivals below.

First, a quick reminder that Table Wines works closely with thoughtful growers to provide natural, organic, biodynamic, and sustainable, low-intervention wines. We deliver in London in our own electric van, and offer free delivery on orders over £60 to certain London postcodes. Nationwide delivery is set at just £10. We offer discounts on orders of 12+ bottles. And please contact us if you’d like more information about making a larger order for an event - we'd be very happy to cater to your needs.

Now, the main event.

New arrivals:

A kaleidoscope of Cabernet Franc from Clos Kixhaya in Chinon: pet nat, rosé, reds of varied intensity and complexity, even a blanc de noirs. Wonderful stuff as always from Bea and Étienne. Perfect for the Autumn.

There’s outstanding value Bordeaux from Damien Lorteau at Chateau les Vieux Moulins. We have just received the new vintages of his trio of wines, each tasting superb right away. Damien is a young vigneron who recently took over his parent’s estate, determined to pave the way as an organic, natural winemaker in Bordeaux, a rarity in a region still beset by mono/mass-agriculture.

From Séléné in the Beaujolais, we have a new white, red, and fizz, along with their old-vine, age-worthy, cru-level triumph, only available in magnum. Sylvère’s wines go from strength to strength, and we are very pleased to offer these.

We are also lucky to have one of the widest selections from Domaine Dandelion in Burgundy. Cult wines for a reason, and hard to come by. We have four reds and their pet nat currently in stock, but not - I predict - for long.

While the summer is very much over, it’s never the wrong season to drink the sunny wines from Mataburro in Roussilon. We are constantly amazed at the freshness and vitality that Laurent and Melissa capture, despite the increasing heat, in their wines. Laurent worked under the late Alain Castex, and Mataburro display the maestro’s same lightness of touch.

Finally, we are thrilled to offer a couple of real rarities, with very limited stocks of each:

Eau de Vie Mirabelle from Domaine Durrmann in Alsace. Yann's dad Andre has been distilling since their earliest days farming, in the late 1970s. Here we have an Eau de Vie from mirabelle plums. 'Water of life' indeed: smooth, pure, and wonderfully uplifting.

And from the experimental mind of Vincent Alexis of Chateau Barouillet in Bergercac, we have an oxidative Chenin blanc from 2012, with 12 years (yes, 12) under flor. In Vincent’s words: “It’s like a vin jaune, but with a south west accent." Notes of nuts, dried fruit, spice, with a salty lift. Almost like a Fino sherry, but uniquely its own thing. A true one of a kind.

Coming Soon:

New wines from Laurent ‘Lolo’ Marre of Le Vent des Jours in Cahors. Lolo’s Malbecs are like no others we’ve tasted - a million miles from the thick, chocolatey sludge you see in the supermarket - full of freshness, finesse, but not without weight and complexity, all thanks to the limestone terroir. Also on this shipment was a brand new Chenin Blanc (more on that very soon).

A fancy pair of sparklers from Vouvray in the Loire, courtesy of Château Gaudrelle. Perfectly timed for the festive season.

And litres of fun from Domaine du Petit Oratoire: a big, juicy red Rhone blend, bottled in the larger, party format for when 750ml just isn’t enough.

See you next time.

Santé!

Christopher
