108 Rouge 2023

Paul's love affair with Mourvèdre continues into 2023, this year from very small yields, as the Corbière region was impacted by drought. There's a lot more immediate fruit here than in the 2022: red berries, cherries, plums, all grounded by Mourvèdre's innate earthiness. The texture is playful: slinky then robust and back again, with smooth, long tannins that near enough demand some barbecued meat. Paul has subtitled this vintage as 'Creature of the Night'. Zero additions. Pure wine.

Paul Old is an ex-ballet dancer and expat Australian who has been making wine in Corbière, as Le Clos Perdus, since 2003. Becoming increasingly drawn to natural wine, he began 108 as his workshop-style project exploring zero-additions winemaking and has never looked back.
